“Otium Ludens- Leisure and Play”- Ancient Relics of Roman Empire
18/07/2008 - Starting from the 18th July at the Hong Museum of Art, the exhibition “ Otium Ludens- Leisure and Play” will showcase an important collection of unique archeological treasures unearthed in Stabiae, a magnificent settlement dating back to the Archaic Times (8th century B.C.) and located in a strategic position particularly loved by the Romans who chose it as a tourist destination and where they constructed villas, bath facilities, ninpheums, all sumptuously decorated. The ancient city was destructed by the devastating eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Presenting rarely seen artworks, the exhibition is an exceptional occasion to experience the luxurious lifestyle and tastes of the mythical Roman Emperors.
